August 1st is National Girlfriends Day…a day that encourages women across the country to get together and celebrate their special bond of friendship so one year ago on August 1, 2019, The Ladies of Bridgewater were invited to do just that and were treated to an evening of pampering.. and the start of our Secret Sistas. Eighteen Bridgewater women participated. Everyone who participated completed a questionnaire about their likes, hobbies, and favorites, then we all drew for a questionnaire to discover who our Secret Sista would be for the year. We spent the year remembering this special “sista.” This was a great way for women in a new community to get to know each other. A lot of excitement ran through our neighborhood as ladies began to receive surprise gifts.. small (although sometimes not so small) tokens of “I am thinking of you.”
On August 1, 2020, we held a “reveal.” Some had an inkling, but others were completely surprised. After a year of mystery, the ladies found out who their Secret Sista was and received a final gift. Hugs were held back because of social distancing which was difficult for us “huggers.” Once the Secret Sistas were revealed, 34 women drew for the next year’s “Sista” and now, we will spend another year wondering who our Secret Sistas are!
The group almost doubled for the coming year as our community continues to grow. Just one more example of living “The Good Life!”
