Thanksgiving 2020 Keeping things Simple

Nov 8, 2020

If anything the last seven months has taught us, it is to “keep it simple” and even the perception of normal is not normal today.  Now that the holidays are almost us, a slight feeling of apprehension as to what it will be like is creeping in, as nothing in 2020 has been “normal.”

Here is some advice from Chesapeake Homes Designer, Susan Barker.  She suggests bringing nature inside, use natural colors and tones and above all just use what you have around the house.  This will cut down on the added stress to run around town trying to compose the perfect table scape and will allow you to enjoy the moment in sharing a meal with those you love either in person or virtually.   Whether it’s the traditional turkey and trimmings or pepperoni pizza, keep it simple.   Incorporate some of your own traditional décor, serving pieces or table linens in order to complete the feeling and reflection of previous celebrations.  Simplicity is calming, comfortable and welcoming; who doesn’t need that feeling right about now?  Whatever the holidays bring to your family, remember to be flexible with your traditions and create new ones that may have a lasting effect for many years to come.
