The Bridgewater Veteran’s Memorial Committee recently sponsored their first-ever golf tournament at the beautiful Eagle’s Nest Golf Course in Little River, SC. Over 88 registered golfers, including more than 50% of Veterans and military family members, came together with a combined 115 veterans and volunteers to make this event a resounding success!

The tournament featured some fierce competition, and we’d like to congratulate the winners of each category. The Most Patriotic Team award went to Team 6: the Par-Tee Girls (Annette Gratke, Dodi Manley, Diane Minihane, and Dawn Rathgeber). Tricia Davis (Team 19) and Jeff Goodman (Team 15) had the longest drives of the day, while Team 2’s Rick Ryan and Dodi Manley (part of the Par-Tee Girls) had the closest shots to the pin. Neil Frazier (Team 16) and Steve Pounds (Team 9) were also impressed with their accuracy on holes 12 and 18, respectively. Special shoutout to Team 7 (Phil Barbour, Jasper Hargrove, Andrew Haro, and Craig Haro) for their impressive, combined score, as well as Team 2 (Tom Clark, Eric Morris, Dave Perry, and Rick Ryan) for their remarkably low score.

Beyond the excitement of the tournament, all proceeds raised will support three veteran organizations: Veteran’s Welcome Home Resource Center (local to the Little River/Myrtle Beach area), Quilts of Valor (Myrtle Beach Shorebirds Chapter), and Wreaths Across America (Little River Memorial Gardens Recipient). We extend our sincerest thanks to tournament coordinators Tim and Anne Mackin, as well as the members of the three volunteer teams, Operation Bogey Man, Operation Hungry Jack, and Operation Basket Case. We’d also like to express special gratitude to Susan Rigano for capturing some truly amazing photos throughout the day.

Exciting news - plans are already in motion for next year’s tournament! Stay tuned for details on the date and location and make plans to attend. Let’s continue to show our support for our Veterans and the incredible organizations that strive to help them every day!
